Coconut Generation

The Next Generation of Asian Indians

Rising Indian Population in America November 23, 2006

Asian Indians continues to arrive at the shores of United States in big number and with big dreams. Based on American community survery 2005, between 2000-2005 Asian Indian population in the United States grew by 38% (nearly 2.4 million). See the US census report –

See also news reports in Washington Post, Little India, and Hindustan Times.

The influx outpaces all other groups of immigrants. The growing partnership and goodwill between the two great nations (not to mention American need for technology workers) will only cause steady rise in the years to come. Even outsourcing is not keeping Indians back home, but want to explore greater opportunity in the largest economy of the world.

This trend might continue to overshadow the American-born Desi Indians (the Coconut Generation). Also migration of Christians from India has also reduced significantly as compared to late 60s and 70s. So Indian churches in America will be forced to recon with leadership transition to the next generation. While in the Hindu and Jain temples leadership will continue to be held with immigrants. This will cause a silent exodus of second generation from religious institutions where leadership is held and more geared address the needs of the immigrants.

We need to close the border asap! Indians need to stay in India, they arrive and think they own the place! They have to pay their dues just like every other ethnic group has had to at one time in this nations history. Indians come here and act as if they deserve the respect and such that was bought and payed for by the minority groups such of African Americans and Mexican Americans since the 40s-60s. Indians have not done much in these struggles and are too easily assimilated after 1 generation without a single strand of knowledge and thanks to the minorities struggles in this nations history that have oppened the oppurtunities for them they so enjoy. Eh Indians can get shipped right back to where they came from.

Thanks James, good that you are aware of origin of problems that your country is facing today. I would say Awesome ! Well (just FYI), who wants to struggle over and over, again and again?
If you want to ship us all back, why don’t you arrange for big boat and you be our leader !!! You are very welcome to India.

Horrible news! A more criminal and non-contributing immigrant group is hard to find. This will cost America dearly in the long run. Indian immigration in Europe has been a disaster and is costing every tax payer far more than they contribut to the country. Indians also top the list amongst the highest criminal group only surpassed by Africans.
