The Next Generation of Asian Indians

About Me.. March 13, 2006

So what about me … um??

This blog contains my occassional reflections on the emerging generation, cultures and ministries. It will include some of my reading and thoughts on Life, Youth, Family, Culture, Church, Leadership etc.

I had the awesome previlage to listen to hundreds of youth leaders, pastors, counselors and parents of Asian Indian community in North America for a 2 year long reserach for the book Understanding the Coconut Generation: Ministry to the Americanized Asian Indians. Check out website (and read parts of the book online) at – www.coconutgeneration.com

I live with my family (wife and two boys) in the northern suburb of Chicago. I serve as the Executive Director of Parivar International. (Parivar means family in many of the Indian languages). You can contact me – mailto:sam@coconutgeneration.com

Pls send in your inputs and ideas for future blog postings.

    Hi Sam,

This is the Varughese (Jewey) you picked up at Joe and Soji’s place and drop at the Bus stop in Chicago. This was in 05-sep. Now, I’m at the Kierkegaard Library in Northfield, MN, for a couple of months working on publishing my Ph.D thesis. Got your blog id from my friend Paul Joshua who suggested i should meet up with. Great! It turns out to be you.

Will probably drop into Chicago sometime, i don’t know when. Would be nice to meet up, if youre around and you have the time.
Keep up the good work among the coco gen!
    God bless.

We live in the Central Valley area in CA, generally known as the “Bread Basket of the World”. We have put together a team for reaching Indians & Pakistanis in our area. Indian population here is nearing 40k with only 4 fellowships. Our greatest need is prayer covering. Anyone reading this–please pray for us as the Holy Spirit leads. God bless. Sunita

  6. Do you know ?
95,000 women are arrested without trial under law Section 498a IPC by Indian Govt in last 4 years even as thieves, molestors get bail. Are these women a bigger threat to society than thieves and molestors? (LINK)

Is this what women’s empowerment by Congress Govt?

Even it took British 10 years to arrest 5000 women( 1937-47) but our Indian Government arrested more than 95000 women ( 18 times ) in just 4 years ( 2004 – 2007).

The maximum women arrested even by barbaric British Goverment in 1930, approx 17000 women for their involvement Dandi Yatra (Salt March), which is much less than our Present Goverment done and our National commission of Women (NCW) and their associated are promoting the same even openly in Media/society/Parlament, which even Supreme Court of India also termed as “Legal Terrorism”!!!

Join the Revolution and help save your family or your beloved ones from the misuse of this deadly law!

  7. This looks great! I posted your site on my blog – The Link Between: Connecting Christians Living Between Cultures (www.thelinkbetween.wordpress.com). Thanks for sharing.
